Like many other MyEdBC users I’ve been trying to find a way to get MyEdBC class lists into programs such as Integrade or Master Grade. I found a few tutorials online intended for school staff (shout out to Dave McCristall’s YouTube video) but the plugin required for this was not available. Users need to drag a “plugin” into the C:\Program Files (x87)\Master Grade\PlugIns folder for the import to work.
Unable to find an existing plugin, I had to modify a plugin within Master Grade to get it to extract the information from a CSV file exported from MyEd.
Here’s how it works. I’ve tried to make this as step-by-step as possible:
1. Go to the Gradebook tab and click on the class you want to export. Then choose “Roster” from the left hand menu.
2. Reports > Quick Report
3. Follow these steps to create a quick report:
4. Once your quick report is done (you might have to enable pop-ups etc.) you need to save it (the .csv file) to your computer. On Windows, you may have to press Ctl+S on the pop-up screen.
5. Open your CSV file in Microsoft Excel and create one more column at the end and call it “Period”. The number should correspond to your block order. For example, this is my Block C class so I called it period 3. Save the file (make sure it is still saved as a CSV).
6. Open Master Grade (remember, for this step you need to have the plugin installed to C:\Program Files (x87)\Master Grade\PlugIns… you can download it at the top of the page).
Click “Import” and voila! Your class list should be within Master Grade!
A little bit tedious but much easier than entering all information manually. Also, once you’ve saved the quick report in MyEdBC you can use it again in the future by choosing “Saved Report” rather than “New Report” in Step 1.
